South Street, Bridport
Bridport is best visited on a Wednesday or Saturday, when East, West and South streets fill with market stalls selling an assortment of local produce, arts and crafts, antiques and bric-a-brac. South Street is the main road to wander along, with the stalls straggling down it holding a fascinating mixture of wares: delicious-smelling pots of vegetable curry next to a stall selling second-hand screwdrivers, and beautiful wooden sculptures on sale next to a table selling home-made children’s toys. On the second Saturday of each month, there’s also a farmers market in the Arts Centre on South Street, where local cheeses, cider, vegetables, fish and meat are sold alongside homemade pies and cakes.
