World Service
Newdigate House Castlegate Nottingham NG1 6AF
Arguably the best restaurant in Nottingham, World Service offers a lively and inventive menu with attentive service – all in charming surroundings, with a decor that's an unusual mix of Contemporary with Asian flourishes. Sample dishes include pea and ham soup with watercress and pan-fried pollock caponata with char-grilled courgettes. The restaurant also has a well-chosen wine cellar, and, if the weather is up to it, you can eat outside on the delightful terrace which faces out onto the garden. There's a comfy bar, too, if you want to hang around and chew the fat, and even smokers are well catered for – they can withdraw further into the garden to puff away in a sort of a mini-pagoda.
