We all know that independent bookshops are a dying breed, but they wouldn't be if they were all as good as Jaffe and Neale. A clean, well-lit store that treasures its Cotswolds links, it features a great collection of local literature and travel writing, alongside a wonderful selection of adult fiction, non-fiction and an enormous room of children’s books in the back. There's a small café area, with a plentiful supply of homemade cake, and even a couple of pavement tables for fine weather treats. The bookshop hosts regular signings for readers of all ages. Do check to see what's happening when you're in town – you might discover that you were wrong when you said 'there's no such thing as a gruffalo.' There's also a book club that meets monthly.
