Exploring the tip of The Lizard – a circular walk
Lizard Point, Cornwall, TR12 7NT
This walk explores the most southerly point of the British mainland – the southern tip of The Lizard Peninsula, taking in the coves and rocks of the coast and pretty inland villages. It's no surprise to discover that this was once the haunt of smugglers, and pirates and shipwrecks are part of local lore, plus you can spot dolphins, porpoises and whales out to sea. At around 12 miles long, it makes for a lovely day's walking – not too difficult but with the odd steep stretch.
