Formerly a private home for some very lucky rich folk 19th century, the Hotel Meudon feels special the moment you arrive, sitting in a green, secluded valley above the sea, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Indeed, staying here can feel almost as if you have left the UK far behind: surrounded by sub-tropical gardens that lead down to the hotel's on private beach, you can fancy yourself on the Amalfi Coast or Cote d'Azur when the sun ius shining. And when it;s not, the hotel itself is a fabulously luxurious yet utterly relaxed place to stay.
The hotel was extensively renovated in 2021 and has 29 rooms and suites, plus a self-catering cottage. The rooms either have views of the sea or the hotel's gorgeous gardens so you can't really go wrong, and all have luxury mattresses and bed linen, contemporary en-suite bathrooms with bath or shower and toiletries; many also have some sort of balcony or terrace. Most of the rooms are dog-friendly. There are relatiuvely few bells and whistles, apart form a small spa, a bar and an excellent restaurant, but the hotel is a supremely relaxing place, with a country house vibe. If you cna bring yourself to move from your room or the gardens, there is plenty to do nearby, with their own Bream Cove just footsteps don the hill, a village nearby and Falmouth itself just a short drive away.
