St Martin’s in the Bullring
Bullring Shopping Centre Birmingham B5 4BU
Sandwiched between the behemothic Selfridges building and the dining hub of Spiceal Street, much of Birmingham's oldest church is in fact not all that old, though there has been a church on this site since xxxx. It's still a place for worship, but St Martin's also has a tea lounge that serves welshcakes and Fairtrade teas and coffees, and hosts free concerts every Friday at 12.30pm. But what's really great about St Martin’s is the contribution it makes to Birmingham's skyline, with its pointed arches and Gothic spire juxtaposed with the modern stuff around the Bullring almost a symbol for the city itself.
