Housed in a converted rope factory in the heart of Birmingham’s trendy Jewellery Quarter, Saint Pauls House is a modern boutique hotel in a great location, with not only 34 comfy guest rooms but a decent bar and restaurant too.

First the rooms, which are excellent value and have a calm and contemporary style ,with good linen and tartan-styled bedding on good quality beds. The Deluxe Superior and Superior rooms are spacious and include bath robes, while all rooms have free wifi, air-conditioning, tea-and coffee-making facilities (including Nespresso-style machines), complimentary mineral water and other drinks and en-suite bathrooms with waterfall showers. Parking is available for an extra charge. Overall the feel of the rooms is cool, sleek and right-up-to-date – rooms are crisp and uncluttered, bathrooms bright, modern and stylishly functional.

The public areas are equally on-trend, with bare brick walls paired with elegant mid-century furniture. There's a nice bar, and the restaurant has a lovely restaurant patio perfect for hot summer days. Start your day with a good breakfast and carry on later by sampling their Bottomless brunches or roasts; the restaurant also serves plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. In between amble through the Jewellery Quarter's galleries, restaurants and, er, jewellers, and take in the rest of the city centre's sights, shops and other attractions, most of which are walking distance from the hotel.
