As you will have surmised from the name, Birmingham's sole independent backpackers’ hostel is conveniently located in the centre of the city, and provides budget accommodation in dorms that can sleep up to eight and are bright (walls are painted in rainbow colours) and comfortable, albeit in a sparsely decorated fashion. Guests wanting a bit more privacy can plump for one of the POD dorms which offer self-contained capsules – the sort favoured by peripatetic Japanese businessmen. In terms of amenities there is also a games room, a bar and an outdoor garden. Wifi and breakfast are free, along with nightly buffets, DVD rental and even popcorn with cinema-style movies. This place really is good value for money.
