The beautiful Dartington Hall estate and its thousand acres of farm and parkland are run as a charitable trust and provide a base for a number of arts and social organisations. It hosts a wonderful array of events year-round, such as the annual multi-arts Tagore Festival and Ways With Words literary festival, plus various music, theatre and dance performances. The impressive Great Hall dates back to medieval times and is open to the public when not being used for events, and the fabulous gardens shouldn’t be missed. Take the children to an afternoon showing at the Barn Cinema, which also screens an eclectic range of films most nights. You can eat at the White Hart pub or the Roundhouse café bar.
