The Great Grubb started life modestly as an ex-student house and has developed steadily into the smart, artsy eight-room B&B it is today. You can expect locally sourced breakfasts and plenty of it, so make sure you have your walk planned to burn the calories off. Don't worry on return, you'll be able to relax in the conservatory, on the south-facing patio or at the top of the terraced garden, and still enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The owners will go the extra mile to help you and make sure that you have a relaxed stay in a friendly atmosphere. The rooms offer a selection of singles and doubles, they are all en-suite and well equipped. Kids are welcome – there’s a soundproof family suite – as are dogs, and the B&B has a separate garden and lounge for guests away from the owners’ house. They also have parking for nine cars, a bonus in busy Totnes.
