Restaurant Andrew Fairlie
Gleneagles Hotel Auchterarder Perthshire PH3 1NF
Scotland’s only two Michelin star eatery at the Gleneagles Hotel is naturally a world-class restaurant, with an attention to detail that shines through everything, from the immaculate sourcing (his brother being a local shepherd helps), to the silky smooth service and of course the consistently stellar cooking. This is serious food, and you can enjoy it here in what ranks as one of the best hotels in the country. There are three menus to choose from - A La Carte, Du Marche and the Degustation. Signature dishes include home smoked Scottish lobster in a warm lime and herb butter, or roast hand dived king scallop, squid and confit chicken. Both regularly appear on the degustation menu. Fairlie himself is the quintessential local boy made good, Perthshire born and bred, and an honest toiler in many a Michelin kitchen before reaching the zenith of his career here, where he seamlessly marries impeccable French technique with the best of Scottish produce. The seven-course degustation menu may just offer the finest dinner in Scotland and is one of the top dining experiences anywhere in the UK.
