Malmaison Glasgow Brasserie
278 West George Street Glasgow G2 4LL
The Brasserie at the Mal is a superb place to eat, especially if you love expertly aged, cooked and served beef steaks. Its location in this former church’s old crypt can be a bit on the gloomy side, and in the past the brasserie struggled to find an identity of its own, but now there is a strong emphasis on Scottish produce such as those minimum 28-day-aged Donald Russell steaks, complete with bone marrow, chips fried in dripping and proper pepper sauces, and a wonderful array of seasonal game and local seafood. Head chef Colin Manson is the man expertly keeping up the Auld Alliance culinary link with Scotland’s cousins across the sea in France, the prices are moderate and the service good.
