Slick studios and one- and two-bedroomed apartments in an impressively revamped, solid stone Victorian building, Fraser Suites makes a chic, self-service base for a Glasgow city stay. It’s got an apart-hotel, business vibe, with its breakfast room (continental buffet breakfast served daily), on-site 24-hour gym, housekeeping, laundrette, and 24/7 reception and concierge services, but it’s good for the short, city-break market too – bang in the Merchant City cultural quarter, and really handy for bars, galleries, restaurants and nightlife.

There’s a sharp, unfussy, contemporary design throughout, with a living area, kitchenette and breakfast seat, and separate work space, even in the smallest studio apartments. There’s certainly more space than in your average city-centre hotel room. The bigger, family-sized apartments have got separate bedrooms, of course, plus some nice city-street views, and you also get Nespresso machines, bathrobes and slippers, and fancy toiletries – not two mention 800 square feet of space and two king-sized beds in the very largest. Another bonus – it’s fully dog-friendly, which is rare in the city, meaning they can provide dog bowls, treats and dog blankets, and it’s just a short scamper to Glasgow Green for walkies.
