Mother India
28 Westminster Terrace Glasgow G3 7RU
Glasgow is renowned for its Indian restaurants and Mother India is probably the most famous and still definitely one of the best. Now the epicentre of an expanding two-city chain (there is a Mother India Café in Edinburgh), this is still a fantastic place to take your tastebuds on a trip to the subcontinent. Their curries are superb, their naans massive and freshly cooked, and there are choices that you won't find in your average currryhouse, such as a whole leg of lamb for two that just falls off the bone. Desserts are British comfort classics, the decor as tasteful as can be (not a patch of flock wallpaper in sight), and the staff as adept at serving three-year-olds as thirtysomethings.
