This deceptively simple-looking art deco-style bar on busy Sauchiehall Street has been a meeting place for creative types and pop stars since the 1980s, when the likes of Hue & Cry used to practically live here. No one seems to know how and why the fish tank got here, but somehow it works. Today live DJs, a good selection of beers and a quietly cool vibe mean that the Variety Bar is as aptly named as ever.
