The Mariner Restaurant
Congress Road G3 8QT
Relaxed hotel restaurant on the banks of the Clyde by the SECC and Hydro. This smart, modern waterfront restaurant benefited from the hotel's recent refurbishment and is now a hotel restaurant worth staying in for. The bright and airy dining space is the setting for that old mainstay of hotel dining, the buffet, but it also has an excellent a la carte menu. It features the likes of slow roasted pork belly with bacon and leek mash, thyme roasted carrots and apple gravy, or Teriyaki salmon fillet accompanied by stir fried noodles with sugar snap peas, sweet peppers, spring onions, chilli, soy and ginger. There is a grill menu too awash with succulent steaks, which is backed up by a decent wine list with two worthwhile Malbecs to accompany the juicy steaks.
