Barafundle Bay
Stackpole Quay Benfro SA71 5LS
It's a little bit of a shlep to this sheltered bay, about half a mile over a set of cliffs to be precise. But once you're there, WOW. You'll have to blink a few times to believe such a beach exists in the UK. The waters are as clear and ranked as highly as they come, and the surrounding pine trees and sand dunes give the beach an intimate, isolated feel. There are no facilities here, so you need to come prepared, and expect to lug whatever you take back up to the car – including any prams or pushchairs. Regardless, Barafundle has repeatedly been voted one of the best beaches in the world, and who are we to argue?
