Where better to enjoy a break with family or friends than surrounded by West Sussex countryside and picturesque panoramas? If that sounds appealing, Downsview Place is the spot for you – a charming six-bedroom house in the tranquil village of Stoughton, smack bang in the glorious South Downs National Park and within easy reach of Chichester. Once a family home, the 300-year-old property has been thoughtfully renovated into a holiday let, offering guests a peaceful and spacious oasis among rolling hills.
Sleeping 11, the large and well-kept garden will catch your eye first, offering ample space for kids to play, dogs to zoom around, and adults to dine al fresco on warm days or simply kick back with a glass of something cold while savouring the scenic surrounds. Decor-wise, it's modern all the way – think colourful artwork, cast iron radiators, statement lighting and patterned tiles. Yet character remains, be it the eye-catching dark green Aga and brickwork in the well-equipped kitchen or the original fireplace in one of the bedrooms.
At ground level, head left as you enter and find the dining area complete with wooden ceiling beams which leads through to the kitchen (plus a handy utility room). Or go right for the light-laden lounge that's home to a log burner and gleaming parquet flooring. There's also a cosy library to hunker down in and get lost in a book. Head upstairs and discover the six tastefully decorated bedrooms (two single rooms, one double and three kings) and two contemporary bathrooms – each has a bath (one is freestanding) with a shower attached. Back downstairs, there's a separate WC. And let's not forget the dedicated entertainment room in an adjacent outbuilding, with a comfy leather sofa, desk and board games. Even if you're not up for getting competitive, this is an uber-stylish place to retreat to. The property also has a garage, for your vehicle and storage needs.
Out and about, Kingley Vale and the National Park are on the doorstep, boasting plenty of walking and cycling routes, and Goodwood Racecourse is easily reachable in 20 minutes. If the beach is more your thing, West and East Wittering are half an hour's drive from the house. After a day exploring, if you don't feel like cooking at Downsview Place, the Hare & Hound pub is a stone's throw away, offering local ales and hearty food.

House is stunning
Our flight to Cyprus was cancelled so 11 of us had to find accommodation at 8pm On a Sunday. These guys came through with excellent and quick communication and saved the day. The house is stunning, really great for a mixed group with adults and kids (including a teen hang out space with pool table and speaker), with beautiful gardens.

Fantastic stay
House is gorgeous and in an extremely picturesque village with a fab pub a few metres away. Beautifully decorated and very homely - we really enjoyed our stay. There are great walks on local footpaths and the house feels very tranquil.
