A 10-minute drive inland from the coast of North Cornwall, close to the wild coastline north of Bude, and the beaches at Duckpool and Morwenstow, East Thorne is a beautifully located self-catering retreat. Convenient for the coast but far enough away amid gorgeous countryside, it can't help but be relaxing – a neat little gathering of self-contained roundhouses and cottages that's super-organized yet also super-chilled. Sup wine on your own outside dining space and watch children run around on the green, car-free space. Order fresh local produce or a gourmet hamper before arrival, sip a freshly made morning frothy coffee from the converted horse box and sit in your bubbling hot tub after a lunchtime stroll, before settling down for a dinner of seasonal street food offerings... Life in the West Country doesn't get much better.

The 10 luxurious roundhouses are designed with a nod to the traditional yurt structure – with a central roof light, wood-burning stove and a circular layout – but with the very highest levels of luxury: wooden floors with underfloor heating, handmade double beds, armchairs and coffee machines, a fully-equipped kitchen, as well as a plush en-suite bathroom and your own private hot tub outside. Eight of the roundhouses are suitable for four, while Cynefin and the Secret Roundhouses are exclusively designed with couples in mind, with their own private gardens and extra exclusive features like a roll top bath, an al fresco kitchen and bi-fold doors opening out to glorious valley views.

Just in case the roundhouses don't suit, East Thorne is also home to four cosy cottages, Nook, Cranny, Nobby's and The Cwtch, each sleeping four people in a double and a twin room, with a living room with Smart TVs and wifi, plus a family bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Decorated in a bright contemporary style, they're a really comfortable conventional offering, while taking full advantage of East Thorne's ‘outdoozy’ facilities, like the campfire, clay oven and safe car-free green space. Pets are welcome in a selection of both roundhouses and cottages.

Had a great time!

We stayed in the couple's roundhouse and it was perfect for a relaxing time away to enjoy some downtime - the view while in the hot tub really added to the experience. I would 100% recommend and hopefully return at some point in the future. Thank you for a great weekend!!

Amazing place

We have just got back from a week away here. It was lovely from the minute we got there. The staff were lovely - showed us all around and to the roundhouses. The roundhouses are done up beautifully we had the ocean room that has bunk beds in the second room and a double for us in the main part. Everything was lovely and clean and decorated lovely. The hot tub was amazing and we were right next to the animals so the kids could just go see them when they liked. My children played out every evening in the front where there is a football field area for badminton and a slide climbing frame. We loved our stay and I’d say to anyone to go - such an amazing holiday.
