New to Forest Holidays in 2024, Glentress Forest is an adventurer's playground in the Scottish Borders, offering 3,800 acres of woodland where you can cycle to your heart's content, pick up a walking route or book an on-site activity, from 'wildlife wonders' and 'nature by night' to 'spa time' in your cabin. There's also a Go Ape nearby.

However you spend your days, one thing's for sure: each night, you'll lay your head in a forest-view cabin. Inspired by biophilia – the idea we're connected with other life forms and nature – the eye-catching wooden cabins were created in collaboration with Oliver Heath Design and are called the 'Unfurl Collection'. Whichever you opt for, there's open-plan living to enjoy and creature comforts aplenty, including underfloor heating, a dishwasher in the kitchen, and a Smart TV in the lounge. Some are pet-friendly, most have log burners, and all have a BBQ and hot tub on the decking – perfect for relaxing and admiring the Tweed Valley vistas and fabulous night skies.

Choose a Golden Oak Treehouse and make the most of four guest rooms and bathrooms. The added bonus? An additional en-suite bedroom pod across a rope bridge. Meanwhile, one-storey White Willow Premium cabins have two to three bedrooms, plus an outdoor kitchen and games area. Golden Oak Hideaways are for couples, while the Silver Birch category sleeps four and has wheelchair adaptations and improved accessibility, including a hot tub hoist.

Set among pines, Glentress Forest is a glorious spot that's renowned for mountain biking and incredible scenery. When you're not out and about exploring, head to on-site Forest Retreat, where you can dine at the restaurant – indoors and al fresco – or refuel with a cuppa (or something stronger from the bar) while lounging on a comfy sofa. Children will no doubt love the natural play area and toasting s’mores by the firepit. There's also a shop, where you can stock up on essentials and goodies, and pre-bookable extras like food hampers.
