Retreat to Rhiw Wood Treehouses and you’ll discover a place to relax with a deep connection to nature, the land and its legends. These luxurious contemporary Treehouses are situated on a working farm, in the Heart of Wales between Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) and the Cambrian Mountains in an area that’s rich with tales of giants and fairies. In Spring when the bluebells are in full bloom, and at night when the dark skies light up with stars, the stories aren't hard to believe.
You’ll receive a warm welcome from your hosts Emma and Lyndon. Their family has farmed this land for more than 100 years. The Treehouses are named after some of the birds you might see and hear in the surrounding trees: Oolert (baby owl) and Cnocell y Coed (woodpecker). And you’ll sleep at canopy level, boasting breathtaking bird’s-eye views over the Radnorshire Hills and valley below.
Each Treehouse is a two-storey affair, sleeping up to five in two bedrooms, with a sofa bed offering space for two more guests. Groups are as welcome as couples and families, and if you hire the two together, they sleep up to 14. The style and the substance are both in tune with the Great Outdoors. For example, there’s wood everywhere, including on the floor, which is warmed by underfloor heating, powered by an air-source heat pump. There’s EV charging and parking alongside for your convenience. And while we’re on the subject of amenities, there’s a Smart TV in the lounge, a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom and a dishwasher and wine cooler in the kitchen. This place is very well-equipped, but it’s sustainable, quirky and well-connected to the outdoors too.
Floor-to-ceiling glass doors provide excellent views, there’s a huge balcony with an outdoor shower and a fairy-lit den below. You’ll love the huge electric hot tub from which you can soak your cares away under the stars. You can walk from here through the woods out onto the open hill where “the giant’s grave” can be found.
Something quite unique to this farm stay is the opportunity to visit their private quarry, where you can hunt for 480 million-year-old Trilobite fossils. There’s so much to explore on foot, but if you don’t mind getting in the car, Builth Wells is a mere 10 minutes away and Llandrindod Wells 20 minutes; Brecon, The Elan Valley and Hay-on-Wye are just half an hour’s drive.

Wonderful way to enter 2025!
In Powys Wales where valleys meet,
Shiv, Lana and Andrew caught up on well-needed sleep!
In the fresh crisp air from our hot tub in Oolert,
We felt as if we’d been placed in a dreamy advert.
As we explored the surroundings and escaped the London craze,
We only wish we had booked a few more days!
Sledging amongst sheep with friends so dear,
What a wonderful way to enter the New Year!
★★★★★
Perfect end to 2024
Thank you so much for the best New Year’s stay. We couldn't have wished for a more beautiful place and location. The
perfect end to 2024 and the best way to welcome 2025. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights.
★★★★★
Loved!
Thank you so much for a wonderful New Year's break. We loved the Treehouse and area, it felt so homely and
welcoming. The boys loved visiting the farm animals.
★★★★★
One of our favourite stays to date
We have felt so relaxed whilst being here, much needed after the chaos of Christmas. The view from the treehouse is
stunning and the boys have loved the hot tub. A special thank you for taking the boys to feed the lambs and to see the
new calf. One of our favourite stays to date, thank you.
★★★★★
Most charming setting
We had a lovely weekend in the most charming setting. Thank you for the binoculars – I loved birdwatching, especially
the red kites below us.
★★★★★
Gorgeous place!
Highlights – quarry, lambs, hot tub, books, woods, zip world, the view and comfy beds! See you soon...
★★★★★
Spectacular – you could very easily live there
We stayed at Oolert over the Christmas period, and we had such an incredible time. The treehouse is spectacular - as
are the views - and you could very easily live there. It has everything you could possibly need, as well as so many
thoughtful extras from Emma who truly made our stay even better than we thought possible. Our 17-month-old
daughter got to feed the sheep and visit the cows (including newborn calves!), and explore the surrounding nature. It
felt incredibly toddler-friendly, and the canvases, books and toys were well-appreciated during our stay! The hot tub,
den, and remote-controlled blinds were a wonderful added luxury, and the kitchen was fully equipped to make a full
Christmas dinner! We were so sad to leave, but were very glad to have booked 4 nights rather than a shorter stay.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!
★★★★★

Perfect retreat
Absolutely loved our stay in the Oolert Treehouse in the Welsh countryside! It was the perfect retreat, surrounded by
stunning landscapes and complete tranquillity. The cabin was clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully decorated,
making it feel like a true home away from home. Waking up to the beautiful scenery was simply incredible. Our host,
Emma was very welcoming and provided great local tips, which really added to our experience of the beautiful
surroundings. I highly recommend to anyone looking to unwind in nature!

An incredible place!
Very unique, high spec and tranquil. The hosts had thought of everything, very welcoming and
family-friendly. We didn’t want to leave!! Amazing views and just such an inviting space for a wknd/week away.
★★★★★
Highly recommended
We loved our stay at the Oolert treehouse. The overall standard of the accommodation is so high, you won't want to
go out! Everything is finished to the highest standard (our kids loved the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom!), and the
place was full of small personal touches. The treehouse has a stunning panoramic view of the valley from both the
living room and the main bedroom (the latter of which can be revealed with remote control blinds in the morning!) And
then there's the massive hot tub on the balcony (that shares the view). We had four of us in there comfortably (there's
room for 6). Our host, Emma, was super friendly and was happy to show us things to do in the area that we hadn't
found ourselves.

barbecue. It’s so peaceful here and we loved exploring the area.

Fantastic memories made
Some fantastic memories made for Andrew‘s 60th birthday. Thank you for your warm hospitality. Isla found lots of fairy
doors in the Wood!
★★★★★
Highly recommend this lovely gem!
Absolutely stunning location, we could stare at the views all day! The house is big enough that all of us had space (2
adults, 4 teenagers 15/17 yrs) but could all be together too, the underneath lounge area is wonderful. The hot tub is
extra special due to the surrounding views and was enjoyed by all of us, especially the 4 teenagers. The whole house
is decorated perfectly and has everything you need. Emma went out of her way to be helpful, give advise on best
places to go yet didn't intrude at all. There are lots of walks (hilly!), easy walk to the local pub that serves delicious
food and towns/attractions short drives away.
★★★★★
We hope to return next year
Thanks so much for having us a wonderful stay – shame we had to leave. We loved visiting Hay on Wye, and the walk
at Elan Valley, the kids loved swimming in the freezing cold waterfalls.
★★★★★
Perfect Welsh retreat
We love all the little touches here. The plants are beautiful, the super comfy beds and the
Hundred House pub is very friendly as was the herb café in Llandrindod. Relaxing in the hot tub looking at that view!
★★★★★
Luxurious and relaxing week
Our second stay at Oolert was as impeccable as the first. A warm welcome and a luxurious and relaxing week
surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside.
★★★★★
We had the best time!
We went for our honeymoon with our nearly 2-year-old and we had the most wholesome time.
We can’t wait to go back! Emma is the perfect host; she is around if needed but leaves you to get on with your time.
Emma had also put little personal touches in the lodge to help us celebrate our honeymoon. Oolert is the perfect
combination of luxury and homely. I can’t recommend it enough.
★★★★★
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oolert treehouse. We had everything we needed, and the hot tub was fantastic. We
found a spot locally at a lavender farm for open water swimming which would have been great if the weather was
warm. Also recommend water breaks its neck waterfall. The host Emma was attentive and really friendly.
★★★★★

Blown away
Wow, what can I say? We were blown away by this beautiful treehouse. My husband‘s 40th will never be forgotten. The
view each morning is breathtaking, having a cuddle with Sammy the lamb made our daughter's day, roasting
marshmallows, finding fossils in the quarry, the barbecue, the sheep, and of course, the hot tub Our children loved the
toys games and books. We literally didn’t need to bring anything... The icing on the cake? Aggie, a massage therapist, and one
of the best - thank you for recommending her. Our family is well-rested and extremely happy. Thank you for your warm
welcome.

Second time – wonderful again!
Thank you once again for a wonderful stay in Oolert. The second time here was even more restful. Yet again, we have
enjoyed every moment and can’t wait for our next visit where I am sure we will find more hills to climb and cycle ride to
explore. As always, your hospitality and kindness have made our stay more enjoyable and the cuddle with the baby
lamb was extra special.
