Positioned in a wonderful middle-of-nowhere location on the edge of Exmoor National Park, there's nothing middling about Middle Stone Farm. It offers top-notch luxury glamping in six safari lodges, three of which are dog friendly, along with a comfortable cabin and a holiday cottage. It has an on-site licensed shop offering home-cooked meals and local produce including Somerset ciders and beers; and the farm is a tourist attraction in itself: a 32-acre patch of west Somerset complete with rare-breed pigs and sheep, goats, chickens and alpacas – a farm tour with a tractor ride will show you the lot. There’s also table tennis, badminton and football as well as two children’s play areas, and overall an unpretentious, backcountry atmosphere that's ideal for couples' breaks and family holidays.
The safari lodges are at the upper end of the luxury scale, fully kitted out with everything you need – and a spaciousness and sense of adventure that is hard to beat. The kitchen has a wood-burning stove to cook on and a small fridge, plus there's an en-suite shower and wash room, and a sun deck and a firepit and private hot tub outside too. Each lodge sleeps up to six people, with a king bed, a pair of singles and a quirky 'cupboard bed' – a two-person cubbyhole that children (and adults) adore. There's no WiFi but a good 4G signal.
But the accommodation isn't confined to glamping, They also offer self-catering accommodation, made up of the cute Deckhouse Cabin and colourful Stable Cottage, which are more secluded, more solid and open all year when the area is quieter still and also has hot tubs and wood-burners. If you’re here for a weekend, the appeal of the on-site attractions might just stop you from exploring the countryside around, but that it be a pity to miss the ponies and moorlands of Exmoor national park, the subtropical gardens of Dunster Castle, the picturesque fishing port of Porlock Weir and the fossil treasure-trove at Klive beach. The answer of course is to forget about a weekend and to book yourself in for a week instead!

Facilities
We're friendly and welcoming and enjoy sharing our local knowledge with guests. West Somerset is quite special as it is off the tourist track and really beautiful. Although remote, we’re easily accessible, only 30 minutes to the M5 and the coast is nearby. We have two EV chargers on site. There is Wifi in the cabin and cottage and some outdoor parts of the farm. For guests interested in animals we offer a weekly farm tour during the glamping season.
Suitable For
We're very family friendly with two play areas, lots of animals to meet, meadows to run free and it's not overcrowded. The cabin is secluded and designed with couples in mind. We have a farm shop on site with lots of local products and we run very popular farm tours through the glamping season. Perfect for family holidays and couple breaks.
The glamping is in two separate fields of 3 lodges each, perfect for group bookings.
Two well behaved dogs may stay in four of our accommodations: Buzzard, Hawk, Kestrel and Porlock Lodges.
Nearby
West Somerset is relatively unknown, our local beaches are never crowded even in August, we're only 3 miles from Exmoor, the least visited National Park in the country, it's incredibly beautiful and unspoilt here. It's also a very friendly part of the West Country and you can be sure of a warm welcome.
Food & Drink
There are two pubs in nearby Wiveliscombe and many good country pubs on Exmoor and The Quantocks. Porlock Weir has lots of good independent options including oysters and wood fired pizza on the harbour, Blue Anchor has a family friendly beach cafe.
Open
Open all year.
Family Friendly
You don't need to go on safari to stay in a safari tent these days. But with alpacas, goats and rare breed pigs and sheep, you can make a very British safari of your own at Middle Stone Farm. Binoculars aren't even required.
Pricing
Safari tents cost from £120 a night, the cabin and cottage cost from £90 a night.
