Situated in the heart of rural Ceredigion in southwest Wales, Denmark Farm Conservation Centre is the ultimate eco-retreat. It's a farm and nature reserve running courses in sustainable living and habitats management, but also has a campsite, bunkhouse and hostel, and a self-catering eco-lodge that can accommodate anything up to 16 people in 3 separate apartments.
The great thing about the lodge is that it's flexible: you can occupy as much or as little space as you like, from 2 people to an upper limit of 16 (if you're utilising all 6 bedrooms and sofa beds), so it's ideal for everyone from couples to families to large groups of friends or extended families. The accommodation is crisp and clean, almost Scandinavian in feel, and is situated in the middle of Denmark Farm's 40-acre nature reserve, complete with woodland trails and hides, ponds, lakes and meadows; plus there are play areas outside and in the woods. It's all about sustainability, and all profits go to help fund the work of the centre's nature and biodiversity charity, the Shared Earth Trust. But it's no hair-shirt enterprise – holidays here are both a comfortable and affordable way to enjoy this special, natural environment; and bear in mind also that you're in a fabulous part of Wales, with countless great walks on your doorstep – the beautiful Hafod Estate and the Devils Bridge Falls are nearby – as is the university town of Lampeter, the Ceredegion coast and any number of other great attractions, natural and otherwise.

Perfect, peaceful, comfortable group stay
We stayed as two families and two dogs over Christmas 2022. What we appreciated most was the 3 in 1 space; having both individual space to enjoy and to group together in, which made for a successful, shared holiday. We all felt well rested, helped too by daily woodland walks and constant birdsong. The grounds are well looked after including an easy 25 minute circuit with boardwalks over soggy sections, and lots to see; fungus, lichens, ponds, hides; bring your binoculars! The lodge was well maintained and had everything we needed for our daily feasts. I also loved the local welsh blankets and red hot showers. We were very well looked after by Mara. Lampeter is a 5 minute drive with a Coop and Sainsburys, and had a great butchers and wool shop!
Response from Denmark Farm
Many thanks for bringing family and friends to stay at Denmark Farm this Christmas. You were a delight to host and will be most welcome to return anytime. It was great to see you all enjoy our wildlife too. Best wishes. Mara

Cosy, beautiful and a warm welcome
When we arrived we were greeted very warmly by Mara and shown all the facilities, she also gave us her contact number in case of emergency which I appreciated. The lodge we stayed in was large and comfortable with 2 big sofas, an armchair and a wood burner in the living room, which made for a very cosy evening. I loved the art on the walls, all wildlife and nature themed, and the fact that all the cleaning products were eco-friendly. It was a treat to wake up in the morning, pull the curtains in the bedroom and be able to gaze out at the birches and oak trees in the morning light whilst I drank my coffee. I'll definitely be booking another stay.

Accessible, safe, innovative
We’ve just spent a long weekend here as a family of 14 in the eco lodges. Guided bat and bird walks were a highlight, and the lodges were equipped with everything we needed both as a base for exploring the site and surrounding areas to putting on a full Easter Dinner for 14!
Response from Denmark Farm
It was an absolute delight to host you and your family Catherine. We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Eco Lodge and hope to see you again sometime very soon. Mara

Fabulous accommodation in a beautiful setting
The accommodation was fantastic. Lots of space to spread out. Lovely balconies and an outsde seating area for al fresco dining!
Great walks around the nature reserve. We saw a buzzard on the first evening. Mara couldn't have been more helpful and checked in on us on a regular basis. There is a washing machine and dryer which came in useful after beach days. (Llandrannog beach is a fabulous beach!) Also recommend Devil's Bridge falls, and Hafod for walks.

Tranquil place of beauty
Denmark Farm is just a lovely quiet place where you can stay in the peace of the site or venture out on a 30 minute car ride to beautiful beaches and towns. We particularly like Coastal Walking and this stretch of Ceredigion is brill. We stayed in the Eco Lodges as a large group but were able to isolate from each other due to Covid. This would be useful for different sized families as well as there are multiple bedroom/bathroom combinations each with their own lounge. Mara the host was wonderful and we enjoyed the woodland and meadow walks at dusk or early morning.

Peaceful, idyllic and welcoming.
Beautiful quiet campsite shared with birds and flowers. Great trails in the woods and meadows. Campfire was a lovely bonus. The facilities are spick and span and everything we needed was there. Super to have no vehicles on the camping field, just mole-hills and butterflies. Looking forward to going back.

Fabulous venue
Absolutely loved our visit to Denmark Farm. Mara was so lovely to correspond with and really helpful, arranging a tutor to come in and run a pole lathe workshop just for us. Tony who ran the workshop was also fabulous, really engaging and well informed and obviously loved sharing his knowledge and experience. The eco lodge was a lovely place to stay, comfortable, well equpped and a proper home from home. We booked the dog friendly Robin's Perch for 4 people but the accommodation is very cleverly adaptable for larger or smaller groups. It was lovely to wake up surrounded by nature and wind down in the evening taking the dog for a walk around the nature reserve. I would 100% recommend it to anyone and am definitely looking forward to making a return visit.

cosy retreat in beautiful countryside
We came to stay here in the autumn, having looked forward to a comfortable and relaxing time away. We loved staying at Denmark Farm! The reception couldn't have been friendlier and our apartment was ever so snug. We stayed in the Owl's Nest, at the end of the lodge with lovely views over the countryside. At night we could see the Milky Way, by day we could wander around the farm's trails spotting fungi and woodland birds. We also enjoyed exploring the local area, enjoying good food, nature reserves and even shopping opportunities. It was good knowing that the profits made on our stay would help to preserve this special place. We'd love to come again. We miss it a little now that we're back home.

Relaxing
We stayed at Denmark Farm Eco Lodges for a family celebration . 3 generations in 4 family groups. The accommodation was excellent . Using all 3 lodges , we could dine together when we wished in one lodge , and relax/play games in the evening in another . Equally , when we wished we could be private . Each bedroom has it's own en-suite , and will lock off to be independent of the others..
The equipment , cutlery , crockery , pans etc were plentiful and of good quality
The surrounding grounds are a mixture of pasture and small woods . A great adventure for young and old , with walks and nature , particularly birds .
I couldn't recommend it higher , with plenty of attractions within 1/2 to 11/2 hour drive . John Fisher & family

Beautiful Place stay and wonderful friendly welcom
We had a wonderful family holiday during half term, the welcome we received from Mara started the holiday perfectly and everything went smoothly for the rest of our stay. The Lodges are well equipped, warm and cosy especially when the fires were lit. The countryside is stunningly beautiful, even in the rain, and plenty of places to visit nearby. The whole ethos of Denmark Farm is to be greatly commended and the whole family (14 of us) have no hesitation in recommending Denmark Farm for a great holiday. We hope to return soon. Sue

Wowed by owls!
The lodges were perfect for our three families - we were able to eat together in the evenings in Robin ( slightly larger than the other 2 lodges with an extra table) and have breakfast in our own lodge as and when people got up. I agree with many of the comments other reviewers have left - the lodges were clean, comfortable, well-equipped and more spacious than expected. Mara is lovely, helpful and welcoming and the setting is stunning. One unexpected surprise was being able to hear barn owl chicks in the evening from the balcony and watch their parents hunt for food from one of the viewing platforms - quite magical!

Lovely Place to Stay in a Beautiful Part of Wales
We stayed at Denmark Farm in this beautiful part of Wales in June this year with family and friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The group stayed in all the kinds of accommodation that Denmark Farm had to offer including the ECO Lodges, Dormitories and the Campsite which included a fully fitted out yurt. This suited everyone’s taste and budget and enabled us to all come together in this area. My own family stayed in one of the three ECO Lodges which could easily be adapted to accommodate both large and smaller groups. The Lodges themselves were clean, well presented, very comfortable and fully equipped for our self catering stay and so were the other types of accommodation.
There were plenty of walks around the nature reserve and plenty of areas that the children could safely explore in the wooded area and meadows.
Denmark Farm offers a choice for all and we believe that the best recommendation is “ Would I stay there again --- YES WE WOULD ”

Really Special Place to come
Fantastic accommodation, ECO friendly to the core! A real treat to come and stay here and very good value. We have come here 3 years in a row and have enjoyed the walks, the nature reserve and the local beaches. The apartments are immaculately presented with well equipped kitchen and the bedrooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. It is a home from home and we love it !

What a gem
We stayed at Denmark Farm in the yurt. What a great place. Back to nature at its finest. The yurt was beautiful and it was like having our own wood to play in. The children loved it and so did we. The lake is a must visit following the path around the site. Just to hear birdsong and wildlife only was great. I would recommend greatly. Mara and Anna were just so helpful. An absolute gem of a place.

Great Location, fabulous ethos and cosy accomodation
Great accommodation with a touch of class - such as Portmerion pottery and locally hand made blankets. The facility to pre order organic food, for arrival, was easy and everything very tasty. The accommodation was cosy, spacious and had all we needed and Mara very welcoming. A recommendation to go for dinner @at the town hall (pop up restaurant in Lampeter) was great too. The Eco Lodge is less than 30 minutes from the coast so you have easy access to mid wales and the seaside with so much to do. The ability to have a stroll from the accommodation around the farm on the numerous paths is also a delight. Listening to all the birds and wildlife and watching the evening sunsets was fabulous.
