Ysgubor Holiday Cottage is a special property by anyone's standards. Beautifully designed, this glass-fronted barn conversion offers views of fields and rolling hills to truly immerse yourself in nature, whether indoors or outside. The surroundings here are spectacular and you can really soak up the scenery from the lovely enclosed garden. There is a blissful feeling of being miles from anywhere – in fact, you are just a mile from the nearest pub and the small Ceredigion town of Tregaron. Beyond, there are the Cambrian Mountains in one direction and the beaches of Cardigan Bay in the other.

Whether it’s countryside, the coast or the Cambrians that appeal, Ysgubor Holiday Cottage is an ideal place to stay if you want to take in this beautiful part of Mid Wales. It sleeps six in three bedrooms. One – a twin – is on the rear mezzanine. On the ground floor, there are two king rooms – one of which has an en-suite bathroom with shower and French doors to the garden. There's also a family bathroom on the ground floor, which has a large, deep bath. These easily accessible rooms are just one example of the thought that’s gone into the careful conversion of this former cow shed. Like the bright and airy open plan kitchen diner, with French doors opening to the garden. It's fully equipped with all the utensils you'll need, plus a washing machine, dishwasher, Tassimo coffee machine. A staircase from the kitchen leads to the second lounge with huge Velux windows that allow plenty of light in the day and are perfect for stargazing at night. The cottage is situated within a Dark Skies Reserve, so it's an ideal spot to appreciate the glories of the night sky.

Then there are all the ways the cottage has been equipped. Does it have WiFi? Yes. Is there a Smart TV? Of course. Will you find a travel cot and high chair? They’re all there. It feels like everything has been considered; from a Bluetooth speaker to a barbecue and even a charging point for electric cars. Friendly owners Lee and John live in the next house down the lane, so are nearby should you need them.

There’s The Ystwyth Way cycle route all the way to Aberystwyth and the good old-fashioned fun of the seaside at New Quay and Aberaeron. Ysgubor Holiday Cottage is a prime location from which to visit them all, but it’s just as sweet a spot to kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet between the mountains and the sea.
