Manchester's most historic hotel is also one of its most convenient. It's also back to its best after a recent re-furbishment: its 300+ guest rooms have been spruced up, along with the public spaces, and it boasts perhaps the city's best restaurant, run by Adam Reid, which has no less than 4 AA rosettes to its name. In short, it's among the city's best and most luxurious places to stay, handy for most things in Manchester, including the nearby central exhibition and conference centre.
The hotel's rooms vary from Standard doubles to Superior rooms and variously sized suites. They all have flatscreen TVs, good wifi, air-conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, complimentary water and good-sized en-suite bathrooms; the Superior rooms are more spacious while in the suites you have better views, robes and slippers and a complimentary newspaper.
As for other facilities, there's a spa and pool, the historic, columned lounge, a cosy yet contemporary bar, which also serves food, and a restaurant – Adam Reid at The French – that's one of the Top 20 restaurants in the UK according to the restaurant app and website Square Meal. The hotel also serves a renowned Afternoon Tea!
