Liverpool is never slow in remembering its heroes, and it does so in some style at this city centre hotel, which commemorates Liverpool FC's most famous manager. As a football- hotel in a football-mad city, it's unsurprisingly popular, yet it’s very affordable too, and in a terrific location within walking distance of Lime Street station and lots of the nightlife and other attractions.
The hotel has 83 extremely spacious rooms and suites, quirkily decorated with comfy beds, large bathrooms, sofas and desks. All the rooms boast Smart TVs, good wifi and – unusually – a Jacuzzi-style bath in every bathroom. The hotel has a restaurant, Bastion, which serves good, simple brasserie-type food, including great breakfasts, and offers room-service as well. Not the best place to stay in you are an Everton supporter, bit otherwise one of the city’s best-value alternatives.
