The Crown
High Street Bray Berkshire SL6 2AH
Do local folk doff their caps to Heston Blumenthal as he strolls down the beautifully quaint high street at Bray? They should. Following the acquisition of the Crown he now owns all three of the pubs here, and they seem to be thriving. While the more renowned Fat Duck will always be the place to sample mustard ice cream, the Crown is Heston's stab at keeping it simple, taking pride in serving traditional pub grub that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. You can enjoy the comforts of British food classics, with pork pies, fish & chips and sticky toffee pudding all on the menu, in one of three beamed dining areas or outside in the vine-covered courtyard. There are also good steaks, burgers, whitebait, potted shrimps, and a mean club sandwich at lunchtime, along with six real ales on tap and a selective and not overwhelming list of wines and champagnes.
