The Inn West End, just outside Woking, deep in the heart of suburban Surrey, serves excellent Modern British food in a stripped-down, relaxed environment. There are also 12 thoughtfully furnished boutique rooms in a purpose-built wing behind the main building. These are spacious and well equipped, featuring en-suite wet rooms stuffed full of posh toiletries. They’re a dog-friendly place to stay too, with two rooms available for dogs. The food is great – locally supplied, with game from the Windsor Royal Parks and lots of veg from local allotments – on an inventive menu that changes with the seasons. And all this within a few miles of the M3 and Heathrow Airport – you need never stay in a faceless travel lodge again.
