The Windsor outpost of Browns has a cracking spot overlooking the Thames and Eton Bridge, and maintains the group's vibe of vaguely colonial Englishness. It's situated in a pot-plant-strewn, listed building that is big enough to keep both rambunctious families and starry-eyed couples happy. The cocktail bar gets uproariously lively at weekends and on summer race nights at Windsor Race Course, just down the river. On the menu, there's a huge variety of pasta dishes, fish, steaks and pies, plus a kids' menu, a decent wine list, and afternoon tea options, meaning this is one place that does its darnedest to please everyone – and frequently succeeds.
