Just a few minutes’ drive from central Windsor lies this sophisticated, welcoming refurbishment of an old crossroads pub, run by Terry Wogan’s daughter and her husband. Consistently good, seasonal dishes (steaks from UK ‘butcher of the year’ Aubrey Allen) are served in a big, bright, nook-and-cranny-filled dining room, or outside on a tree-lined patio. There’s a grown-up vibe, but children are welcome. Staff are – as you might expect, given the proprietors – twinkly-eyed and charming. Large car park.
