Guildhall Island
Streets off Castle Hill Windsor
The cobbled alleys alongside the castle entrance are glutted with flag-waving tourist tack, but contain some historical curios too. The Guildhall itself, where Charles and Camilla were married, now houses the Windsor & Maidenhead museum, and is also a frequent lecture venue for the biannual Windsor Festival.
Next door, Queen Charlotte Street is reckoned to be the shortest street in Britain, at just 16 metres, and right next to it is the giddily-leaning, fairytale-like Market Cross House, now a tea room. For a cheesy souvenir, you can pose for portraits in period frocks and doublet & hose at Castle Studios on Church Street.
