Westbury On Trym High Street, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol BS9 3EE
Gordon Ramsay rated this experimental, Italian-influenced restaurant, out in the sleepy suburbs of Westbury-on-Trym, as Britain’s best in 2010. Run by two brothers, the UK’s youngest Michelin-starred chefs, it’s certainly an exciting place to eat – as long as you can get a reservation. It’s pretty small, the menus are great value and the dishes artfully presented, but don’t come here expecting a showy statement restaurant – it’s more like a traditional trattoria than a West-End paparazzi-fest. Their new thing, as of 2012, is to focus on seasonality: expect changing menus that reflect the time of year perfectly, down to the herbs grown in the kitchen’s courtyard.
