Excellent real ales and historic character are good reasons to visit this 17th-century inn. But it’s the menu that makes it an institution for locals and in-the-know visitors. Expect Cornish mackerel, Exmoor Angus steak, seared Lyme Bay scallops, half-a-pint of prawns with lemon garlic aioli or tapas-style browsing boards alongside upmarket pub classics. Everything served is superb and accompanied by an extensive wine list as well as top local beers. A country pub in quiet Georgeham and a real winner.
