We're pretty keen on the lovely Lundy House hotel-cum-B&B. Not only does it enjoy a fabulous position in one of our favourite places in the whole of the Southwest, overlooking the sea between Woolacombe and Mortehoe on the hill above, but it's a wonderfully welcoming place, with no less than 8 en-suite rooms, many of which enjoy stunning sea views across Woolacombe's bay – taking in Baggy Point in one direction and the National Trust peninsula of Morte Point in the other. All the rooms are named and each is different, but what they all have in common are their crisp, contemporary style, Egyptian cotton sheets, bathrooms stocked with posh Scottish Fine soaps and Sea Kelp toiletries, flatscreen TVs and generous hospitality trays. There's free wifi throughout, and a lovely bright dining room, also overlooking the sea, where you can enjoy a thumpingly good breakfast.
It's dog-friendly too, which is just as well, as it's a perfect location for bracing walks, and you're within easy distance of Mortehoe's two lovely pubs and the various facilities (and spectacular beaches) of Woolacombe in the other direction. The same people also own a lovely, white-painted 3 bedroom apartment with a balcony also overlooking the sea, that's available to rent April to October – perfect for a family, although the B&B does also have a great family room.
