Saunton Beach and Braunton Burrows

Three miles of beach vanish into a haze of surf around the south headland from Croyde. This huge space is not only favoured by dog walkers, it featured in the video for Robbie Williams’s single ‘Angels’. The beach is special enough, but you can also explore Braunton Burrows immediately behind, a massive area of sand dunes where the dunes are up to 30 metres high. Once the expansive training area for World War II's D-day landings and later used for grazing animals, the diversity of the flora that has been re-established in the dunes has won protection as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
