Dorset’s only Michelin-starred restaurant doesn’t look much from the outside, but the quality of the cooking and the locally sourced ingredients are second to none. It specializes in modern British cuisine, with dishes such as chargrilled Jurassic Coast rose veal with white bean casserole and pickled carrots, or roast loin of Dorset lamb, lamb sausage roll, Jerusalem artichoke velouté and a thyme jus. The two-course lunch menu includes canapés and homemade bread and is a more affordable way to sample cooking of this calibre, or you could go the whole hog and opt for the six-course evening tasting menu. The restaurant is tiny and very popular, so you’ll need to book ahead.
