The Shave Cross Inn
Shave Cross Dorset DT6 6HW
You’d be hard pushed to find a prettier beer garden than that of The Shave Cross Inn, a quaint 700-year-old pub in the heart of West Dorset, which has flagstone floors and roaring open fireplaces. As well as a selection of real ales and local ciders, they serve decent pub grub, including pizzas from their garden pizza oven, and are just a few miles from the Dorset coast, specially fossil-hunter heaven at Charmouth, with Lyme Regis nearby too. Outside there’s a thatched well, a pond, and, if that’s not enough, Britain’s oldest skittle alley, which is still used but also serves as the local cinema. It has 4 spacious guest bedrooms, a series of glamping pods and bell tents in its paddock (with a safari tent on the way), and the ‘Pad’ – a converted loft in an old wooden barn that sleeps up to 6 people.
