Weymouth Sea Life Tower
The Quay Weymouth Dorset DT4 8DX
Rising up above Weymouth's ferry terminal is an intriguing space pod on a giant stilt – the Sea Life Tower. It's in fact a glass pod that swiftly rises from the bottom of the tower to the top, a height of 53 metres. Then you are slowly able to admire Weymouth from on high in two 360-degree turns. Not for vertigo sufferers, it's a dazzling spectacle, with the beach and sea far below you, the town spread out like a map, and Nothe Castle and its park one side and the cliffs of the Purbecks the other. A jolly commentary points out some of the town's sights, then, before you know it, you're back down to earth. Fifteen minutes well spent.
