Fritham walk or cycle ride
Fritham
The less visited northern reaches of the New Forest also contain some of the park’s least spoilt woodland. The car park just beyond the Royal Oak pub in the little village of Fritham is the starting-point of some superb forest tracks, ideal for a walk or cycle ride. A 7km circular walk heads to Islands Thorn enclosure and continues into picturesque woodland. After 2km you cross a stream, take the left fork where the path divides, and then take a left turn through a gate (signed Amberwood Enclosure) and continue through double gates and then another gate when you exit the woodland. Bear left and you cross open heathland back to your start point.
