Hidden away down a country track, in the heart of these stunning surroundings, this looks like a fairly basic village local from the outside, but the High Corner Inn is something special: a properly family-friendly and dog-friendly pub and place to stay that couldn't be better placed for enjoying the outdoor delights of the New Forest. The excellent food they serve will set you up for all manner of activities, whether you're on foot, travelling by bike or touring the region by car, and as part of the regional Butcombe Brewery group, you'll naturally find a good range of ales on tap too.

The High Corner is the cosiest of country inns, with seven guest rooms available for your stay, from Standard doubles to more spacious King doubles (with king-size beds) and even a separate family room or suite, which has a king-size bed and a sofa bed. All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms with Bramley toiletries (some with baths, others with showers), WiFi, flatscreen TVs and digital radios, plus tea- and coffee-making facilities and room treats. They're snug and stylish, with antique furniture, rugs and cushions, and some are dog-friendly too. Outside, the pub has a great beer garden and the downstairs bar, and eating areas are deliciously pubby, with beams, wooden floors and all sorts of nooks and corners. You never know, you may get a visit from one of the many New Forest ponies that wander free around the area.

Above all, the High Corner Inn provides a terrific location for discovering the delights of the New Forest and is predictably busy with cyclists, walkers and families during the summer months, but it's no less appealing for all that, with oodles of trails and bike paths. The pub even has stabling for your horse if you'd like to bring that with you!
