Typical of Blackpool's town-centre eat-and-drink rejuvenation is Toast, a café, bar and grill with a sleek feel, occupying the roomy premises of a former bank building. The menu is truly gargantuan – tapas, pizza, pasta, steaks, wraps, sandwiches, bistro dishes and salads – which is often a worry, but their locally-sourced heart is in the right place and there are lots of Lancashire tastes and ingredients along the way. It's got big picture windows and outdoor seats on Corporation Street, so you're really handy for the Winter Gardens, and while a town-centre site might have been the kiss of death in years gone by, Toast is taking full advantage of Blackpool's more cultured revival.
