Budget doesn't have to mean basic, and The Fylde offers fresh and funky accommodation in nine really good-value rooms that have been decorated and fitted out with more than a touch of flair. Its full title – The Fylde International Backpackers – is a bit misleading since it doesn't have dorms, but instead provides private en-suite rooms for couples or up to four friends to share. Families get a good deal here too, and one option is two interconnecting rooms that between them sleep up to six (with a combination of double beds, bunks and a sofa bed). There's also no bar, no stag or hen parties allowed, and an appeal for peace and quiet at night, so it's not a party place either. The feel instead is more home-from-home, with its purring resident cats, sun-lounge, games room (with Wii for the kids), self-catering area and laundry service – and breakfast is included. It's about a ten-minute walk from the front door to Central Pier and the prom.
