Grundy Art Gallery
Queen Street Blackpool FY1 1PU
There are many things you might expect of Blackpool – a cutting-edge art gallery is probably not one of them. However, the town's art collection, named after benefactor brothers John and Cuthbert Grundy, celebrated its centenary in 2011 and continues to plow a very singular furrow in this most lowbrow of towns. There's an expansive range to the permanent collection, from Victorian oils to contemporary installation art, and changing exhibitions draw on this while also presenting the work of visiting artists in all genres.
