For the best Italian food in town, book a table at family-run Sapori – and you will need to book, unless you don't mind a long wait. It serves a straight-down-the-line traditional menu, from spaghetti marinara to steaks in a Barolo wine sauce, but it's elegantly done, with a twist here and there, from drizzles of balsamic on the plates to great balloons for wine glasses. Authentic pizzas are are big and chewy enough to please most – the house special comes with sun-dried tomato, smoked bacon and rocket – and the staff are right out of Italian charm school. House red is a cheeky Veneto merlot for a not-at-all cheeky three quid a glass – you have to love those Blackpool prices.
