Central Pier is the one with the Big Wheel, which makes it an instantly recognisable landmark as you make your way up and down the prom. It's also home to a few other traditional fairground rides, including dodgems and waltzers, plus a chippy, ice cream parlour, huge bar and all sorts of arcade games, but if we had to pin down a single reason for a visit it's the lure of 'Stars in Concert'. This live performance tribute show – direct from Vegas, and in residency in the Central Pier theatre from mid-June until the end of the Illuminations – is Blackpool at boldest and brassiest. Where else would have the chutzpah to proclaim "Lady Gaga, Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Buddy Holly – better than the real thing"?
