Funny Girls
5 Dickson Road Blackpool FY1 2AX
A Blackpool institution, where gay and straight worlds collide, the Funny Girls burlesque revue is one of the resort's most high-profile, must-see spectacles. It's been going since 1994 and – a little unexpectedly perhaps – proved so popular with audiences across the board that it moved into the town's old Art Deco Odeon cinema to give it more breathing room. There's a fantastically theatrical show every night, with glam female impersonators and athletic male dancers giving it the full Vegas routine, whether it's summer extravaganza or Christmas spectacular. It's adult and risqué – you can't take the kids – but it is otherwise entirely welcoming to all, provided you come in the right spirit (sample FAQ, "Can we come in fancy dress? Yes"). Standing tickets are the cheapest way to go, and you might get in on the night, although booking is best; and for seats (complete tables or booths only, minimum of four people), and the pre-show dinner, you must reserve in advance.
