Devonshire Brasserie and Bar
Devonshire Arms Bolton Abbey Skipton North Yorkshire BD23 6AJ
The less formal choice at the Devonshire Arms is their brasserie and bar, a bright, contemporary space that's as much a local haunt as a hotel dining option – certainly, if you want a decent bistro-style meal anywhere in the vicinity of Skipton, this is a good bet. There's a snazzy interior of primary colours, big artwork and open spaces – it's definitely not rustic or country-house inside here – while on sunny Dales days the outdoor terrace beckons, with its sweeping views across the fields. The food is a familiar something-for-everyone mix – steak and chips, pasta, risotto, smoked chicken salad, roast cod, pork fillet on mash – and there are a fair few wines by the glass and some decent draft ales. Prices are eminently reasonable for the quality, given that you can easily spend this much in a local pub.
