How does staying in a deluxe lodge in one of England's most picturesque areas sound? Sister site to the excellent glamping setup at nearby Catgill Farm, the four timber lodges at Howgill provide a truly luxurious escape, and on top of that, they're the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. Situated just below Simon’s Seat, the award-winning lodges are in a prime spot, boasting direct access to scenic walking routes, including the Dales Way, just a short stroll from the River Wharfe, and close to pretty villages like Barden Bridge.

Howgill offers the best of both worlds – luxurious interiors with all the modern amenities you could wish for, paired with the beauty of nature right on your doorstep. Each lodge has been thoughtfully designed to provide spacious, chic and comfortable living spaces for up to six guests (no more than four adults are recommended). There are two bedrooms – a double and two singles – plus a sofa bed. Whether you're relaxing in the wood-fired hot tub, enjoying a meal on the timber decking, or taking in the breathtaking outlooks from the comfort of the lounge, you're in for a memorable stay.

A stone's throw from Howgill Lodge is Love Brownie Barn, serving homemade brownies and milkshakes. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, they're also open for breakfast, lunch and takeaway pizza. Nearby Appletreewick is a picture-postcard village with two country pubs – you can walk there in 30 minutes along the banks of the River Wharfe. There are more routes in every direction, from day hikes to the 80-mile-long Dales Way (which passes 500 yards from the site). Nearby Bolton Abbey, with a magnificent priory and waterside picnic areas, is a great place to spend the day, while young ones will particularly enjoy Hesketh Farm Park or a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine, which runs on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, five minutes’ drive away. The nearest town is Skipton, with a magnificent castle and plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants.

It's worth noting that Howgill Lodge also offers camping, with electric and non-electric pitches for tents, caravans, campervans and motorhomes, plus modern shower and toilet facilities and more of those spectacular vistas – additional info below.
