Roundhay Park
Princes Avenue, Leeds LS8 2ER
Leeds residents aren’t especially prone to showing-off but, if they were, they would surely make more of the fact that they have one of the world’s largest urban parks on their city doorstep, a legacy of some of the more enlightened aspects of the industrial Victorian age. Situated on the northern edge of the city centre, Roundhay Park is truly huge, covering 700 acres in total, and has lovely garden, woodland and lakeside walks. What's more, tons of events, sporting activities, festivals and markets are held here throughout the year. The park also houses the Tropical World gardens and butterfly centre, which contains the biggest collection of tropical plants in the UK outside Kew Gardens. Come to the park on November 5 for the city’s biggest and best bonfire and firework celebrations.
