Part of the small Dakota group, which has a handful of hotels in the north of England and Scotland, this is one of our favourite places to stay in Leeds, a deliberately stylish, yet under-stated contemporary hotel on a terrific city centre location. It's good at the details – even the Classic guest rooms are spacious and well-appointed with good quality beds and high-end linen, extra-large Smart TVs that have sports and movie channels as standard, bluetooth speaks and extra-fast wifi. Bathrooms are sleek and simple, with rainfall showers and well-chosen toiletries – plus you get slippers, tea and coffee-making facilities and complimentary water as standard. Executive rooms are come with super-king-size beds and are large enough to have somewhere to sit as well, while Deluxe rooms are larger still and have Nespresso machines and separate baths and robes. A notch up from these and you're in balcony and suite territory.
The hotel has a really nice bar for early evening tipples, along with the Grill restaurant which serves good steaks and other relatively simple food; it also offers a cheaper 'terrace' menu (burgers, fish and chips, etc) and and if you can't bear to leave your room you can order room service. Finally, if you'd rather head out and experience Leeds city centre for yourself, you couldn't be in a better location.
